it's a spring day, finally.

it was a beautiful day out today. we are so blessed with this sunshine... and no rain! it was a perfect spring day!
he's going to be two! can you believe that? we spent the entire, and i do mean entire day outside. it was simply glorious to have the sun shinning down and the both of us getting some well deserved and much needed vitamin d.
gavin got to enjoy some yummy gummy bears while hanging out in daddy's truck.. a favorite thing to do on a warm sunny day. he can even put the right key in the ignition, scary huh?
maddy spent the entire day outside as well. galloping around the yard and chasing everything that moves. she is so big and so beautiful!
and he still loves his mo mo's.
gavin and i continued our day outside and went to my moms house to check out rufis- her bunny-who's very old! he just went to the vet and got his teeth shaved because they were so outgrown and he was having a hard time eating. he now looks like a new, sweet, cuddly rabbit. gavin loves him and we always let him out of his cage to eat some sweet green grass.
i've always been so inspired by my moms since of "shabby sheek" outdoor decor.. and i'm really excited to say that i will be a "copy cat" in the next couple of weeks. her creations are almost by accident, like this beautiful old end table that she left outside and started to put various things on it. then.... it turned into this and it's amazing. i love the duck, and might have to sneak away my moms chicken that's in her entryway ;)
this is also going to be a new flower bed at my house... a little different of course but somewhat similar. i'm in love with it!
gavin always enjoys some play time at grandmas house with all of her different toys. i can remember playing with these books when i was younger, and they still look great.
we came home and i decided to make dinner.. i made some great home made augratin potatoes. they were so delicious and surprisingly dan thought they were good as well, minus the peas.
ended the day with some sorbet... it was amazing. now i'm watching no strings attached, gavin's in bed, and dan went out to bipes' house to work on a mud truck... tis the season!

reduce

since waste management decided to give us a HUGE recycling can we have had about 75% less actual garbage go out every friday. our garbage can was so empty that dan threw in some of the miscellaneous extras that we've been waiting to throw out since starting out "bathroom project". it's so nice to see all the cans/glass/paper/cardboard go into the recycling bin :) but not so great to see all the beer cans the boys tend to drink on the weekends. do you know how much of our "waste" can be recycled? much more than you'd think.
saving the world one recycling can at a time.

it's the 7th hour on a friday

it's FRIDAY and i'm up, gavin's at daycare and i have a beautiful cup of coffee sitting in front of me.
i've been sick all week long, including sunday. i think i got the flu after sipping from the same glass as a friend. i've been tired (hence my last post), sensitive, sick and well lets just say i think i very well could of lost 10 lbs on my "flu diet". i had no appetite and if i did eat i couldn't hold anything down. so with that being said, i feel great!
i only worked two days this week, which has good and bad advantages! but i have monday off as well. this weekend is so so so incredibly busy, i don't think we'll be attending everything like we usually do and i'll be ready for another day off.
i get to be reunited with two beautiful women! miss ashley noble, soon to be gaulrapp, and kathryn sutton! ahh yes :) i'm rolling up to the cities on saturday morning to get my hair done and sliding down to owatonna for ashleys shower/bachelorette party. our family is suppose to be having easter on my dad's side on saturday night but i don't think i'll be back in time. then sunday we slide down even farther to new ulm to celebrate a easter luncheon with dan's family. very busy, very expensive (gas) weekend. sadly, no church for us.
today i'm going to try to get to see kelly and her new baby brenna to get my baby fix, AND clean the entire house.
what are you doing for easter?
next weekend won't be any less busy. helping brenda with prom hair all day saturday (while sipping on mimoisas) and a book party and LONG overdue shopping trip for gavin and i on sunday. just when i think our life starts to slow down i think ahead to the next weekend and realize that it won't.... just yet. and dan, well his life is never slow. i swear he ALWAYS has something planned, fixing, helping... doing something for someone. and yet, we seem to get to have good family time, most weekends :)
oh oh oh- i forgot. i am so honored to be a part of sarah and shawns wedding in september. she has asked me to not only do some of the hair for the wedding, but also be her personal attendant... gavin will be a ring bearer and dan is a groomsman so i can't even imagine the crrrraziness of that weekend!

..so

i'm exhausted.
everyday, sometimes all day, am to pm...
i have been getting more than enough sleep but this weeks honestly been the longest yet.
is it friday?
yesterday (wednesday) i had to go through the doggy door, or try to fit through the jagged corners at 7am. it didn't work. i locked my keys in the garage and stupid me left all the extra garage door openers in my car- whoopsies...
so i had to call my mom for a ride to work. i felt like i was back in middle school. not impressed. so after work, after i drove my moms car from howard lake back to litchy, i got in through the doggy door, picked up gavin, got in the car, grabbed treats and headed back to howard lake to pick up my mom. it was a long day.
today was fairly easy, or as easy and stress free as any 'working' day can be. so why am i exhausted? clearly, no idea.
gavin on the other hand, is not. he's babbling to himself in his bed.
current favorite words: dada, mama, papa, gama, chicken, all done, kitty, cluck cluck, and more (his favorite word to say and sign). by the way have i told you that i had a crash course in sign language since starting my job. signing is amazing and i'm getting really good at it, fast. the only downfall is i sign when i go home and dan thinks i'm slightly crazy. gavin is really catching on so that's a good thing since he can't put sentences together yet, and yet is the key word. things are coming though: more milk, all done, more please (ease).
anyways, i'm tired so i'm going to bed. we have NOOO plans what so ever for the weekend, which is kind of odd so i'm hoping for some good r&r.

a mini style icon

kingston rossdale

i have and always will be a huge gwen stefani fan. i think she has an incredible since of style, a little eccentric, but she rocks it. and she has the most adorable family, ever. her husband is not only sexy as hell but also one of the reasons that we (dan and i) have a gavin of our own. i've been in love with the name gavin since i have known who gavin rossdale is. his name just rolls off of your tongue so easily. then gavin and gwen got married and created, this beautiful little boy, KINGSTON. i love kingston rossdale. he is the cutest little boy ever... ever. (he just might even top gavin schroeder).. i even love his name and if i didn't know that kingston was a town near litchfield i would be tempted to name a son kingston. kingston has the most unique and adorable since of style (or maybe it's because his parents are ah-maze and dress him so cute) and i'm going to try to make (my) gavin a mini kingston. since gavin was born i've dreamed of cutting a sweet mohawk into is hair.. and since gavin was born with little to no hair i've been patiently waiting. his hair just might be long enough to make into a gnarly mohawk this summer! i would even consider bleaching it to match kingstons if that would be something he would want down the road. ;) but for now, a mohawk will be our newest style in the summer. also, i love how kingston wears whatever.. sometimes it matches, sometimes it's a costume or sometimes it's just a random assortment of mismatched items.
if you see (my) gavin dressed in mismatched items, you'll know where i got the
ideas from :) and i'm DYING to find a pair of boots like kingstons!
